  申请英国学校的学生大多要参加入学测试评估,为完善教育系统,减轻考生择校备考压力,过百所顶尖私校(如伊顿公学、温彻斯特公学、阿宾顿学院、滕纳姆女子学院等)将UKiset视为入学申请第一步,凭借考生所提交分数进行初步筛选。
 
  Tips:凡9岁半—18岁的非英语母语考生皆可报名参加,根据考生年龄跨度较大的特点,UKiset考试组别划分为11+(9-11岁)、13+(11-13岁)、14+(13-14岁)、16+(14-16岁),先提前确定入读年级有空位,再规划备考。

Why UKiset

UKiset创意写作

  创意写作creative writing是测试最后一项,分数不计入总成绩,但考生手写原版作文将随同报告一起交给学校,作为入学重要参考。对于非英语母语的考生,CW所给题目虽然取材于熟悉的日常生活,但要求发挥想象力、结合逻辑思维,打破平凡,写出新意。例如:Write a story with Alone as the title, where you suddenly realise that you are on your own.  It may be a true or entirely made up, but it should include your thoughts and feelings as well as what happened.
  对于习惯引用模板,形成固定写作风格的国内考生,拿到UKiset写作题目,很可能对如何构思感到茫然,难以形成行文思路,反而向校招官暴露不足。因此,下文将重构“开头-中间-结尾”,传统写作三段论,从中阐发创意写作新技法!

UKiset Creative Writing

  写作要有开头-中间-结尾,这是老生常谈,毕竟,每篇文章都是如此,但是结构完整的文章并非佳作,每个模块质量才是决定要素。映射于UKiset CW,需要思考三部分写什么内容?

●开头只有一件事要做——把读者吸引进来,这有点像邀请某人跳舞,你需要主动牵着他们来到舞台上;
●一旦引起读者注意,要说服他们继续下去,这便是中间部分,即故事主体的任务,只要你的文字具有叙事吸引力,读者会持续阅读;
●结尾是读者离开这个故事的时刻,在此可以自由抒发想法,反转或升华。

A Strong Start

  创意写作技巧经常提到story hook,一个故事中最吸引人的部分。在文章开头你确实需要吸引读者注意力,但并非描写浮华场面,只需足够吸引读者。例如它是否在某种程度上营造紧张气氛/提出问题/引起好奇心/有一个视觉元素为读者构建想象世界?在UKiset CW中常见问题可能是故事开头信息过多。比如开篇就引入3-4个角色,不断转换叙事视角,表面看来,作者想法丰富,文思泉涌,但开头便接收如此多信息,读者可能会不知所措,无法融入故事,丧失阅读兴趣。因此,在写作开头时需严格控制信息输出,提出一个焦点,例如某人,某地,某物。开头塑造一个引人注目的人物要比快速浏览三、四个角色更吸引人。

Mighty Middle

  中间部分的写作技巧很难确定一个标准,但缺乏张力是最常见问题。类比动作电影,如果没有角色变化,也可能被认为是最无聊且毫无生气的。从结构上讲,创意写作故事若缺少角色变化,那它就是线性发展,这类故事更像是报道或轶事或者一个事件列表。通常人物经历重大转变可以为故事增添一抹亮色。作者可以为主角设置挑战,诱发人物成长,引导读者与角色之间互动,认同或冲突。例如,你的女主角想要离开家乡去追求梦想。但是需要离开所爱的人。最终她的决定是什么?

Ending
  首先注意,结尾和故事高潮不一样,在高点之后,读者需要“衰落”的时间,不至于让故事结束得太突然。此外,结局并不意味着要把所有故事情节/线索都串联起来。它只是给读者结束感,从故事世界中脱出。写作时想想你希望读者读完后有什么感觉,考虑你想传达哪种情绪基调:深思熟虑/开心快乐/怅然若失?你可以模仿自己喜欢或读过的故事结尾,它们给你什么感受?分析作者是如何达到这种效果。UKiset 创意写作的故事,描述一个开放式结尾通常有效,可以在读者心中激起疑问或产生共鸣。比如著作《飘》的结局“Tomorrow is another day”,郝思嘉和白瑞德的明天会是如何?玛格丽特·米歇尔同样没有给出答案,留给读者无尽想象。

②The castle stood on a great rock with a twisty flight of steps going up to it from the car park, a hundred and ninety-nine steps the guidebook had said, and the children intended to count them all.What happened next?

③Pretend you have gone into a time-travelling machine and ended up in the past – or perhaps, future. Write a story about your adventure, don’t forget to talk about: What do you see? What does the place look like? Who do you meet? What do they look like? What do they eat and drink? Where do they live?

④Imagine you are asked to go to a magic school like Hogwarts. Write a story detailing your adventures at your new school. Don’t forget to describe the teachers and the
subjects they teach. Do they teach maths and English or do they teach special magic subjects? Which is your favourite teacher? Why? Do you have many friends? What are their names? What do they look like? Do they have any special talents?

⑤One day as the sun rose over the ocean and the Captain shouted to the crew to raise the sails, I nervously peered out of the port hole. My father had told me as we boarded the ship that our journey was very dangerous as these waters were notorious for PIRATE attacks! As I looked out over the swaying ocean I couldn’t help but wonder if indeed pirates were out there just waiting for us. Suddenly…

⑥Write a story (true or made up) about a visit you make to some relations of your own.

⑦Write a letter to a cousin inviting him to stay with you. You should try and interest him in some of the varied and unusual activities he can take part in.

⑧Describe a situation which you have experienced which might also be called A Magical Moment, showing what your thoughts and feelings are.

⑨Write a clear description of an animal you know well.  Make sure you describe what it does and how it behaves as well as what it looks like.

⑩The Prince of Darkness is a Gentleman.

⑪Write a story that begins with the words – I had been waiting for such a long time for this to happen.

⑫Write a description of someone you admire.  (You may choose someone you actually know, or someone you have never met.  Describe them and explain why you admire them).
